President Cyril Ramaphosa visited Sasol’s Secunda Operations on Friday, accompanied by Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu for a guided tour of one of South Africa’s most significant industrial facilities.

Leading the visit were Sasol President and Chief Executive Officer Simon Baloyi, alongside Sasol Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairperson of the Board Muriel Dube, supported by members of the company’s Group Executive Committee.

The visit offered President Ramaphosa a first hand look at Sasol’s integrated Secunda value chain, providing insight into the scale and complexity of operations that play a vital role in South Africa’s energy landscape.

From fuel production to chemical manufacturing, the tour highlighted Sasol’s contribution to the country’s energy security, industrial capability and economic development. It also showcased the company’s role in advancing manufacturing excellence, creating employment opportunities, developing critical skills and supporting local economies.

A key focus of the visit was Sasol’s ongoing transition initiatives which are aimed at strengthening South Africa’s long term security of supply for liquid fuels and chemicals while supporting the country’s evolving energy future. Company leaders outlined how innovation and investment are helping position Secunda as a cornerstone of both current energy needs and future sustainability goals.

The engagement underscored the importance of collaboration between government and industry in driving economic growth, safeguarding strategic industries and ensuring South Africa remains competitive in an increasingly dynamic global energy market.
