Businesswoman, boxing promoter, and owner of Unleashed Combat Sports and Events, Shereen Hunter, is launching her comeback campaign with a fight at the SABC Head Quarters in Auckland Park on Sunday, the 17th of July.
She says, “After a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19 and dealing with the passing of my husband Lionel; I am starting a new chapter with Unleashed.” Unleashed Combat Sports & Events was founded in 2017 by Shereen Hunter.
With wide experience in both marketing and public relations, Shereen excelled at the promotional and marketing side of the events business. In 2017, she was elected as Secretary-General of the Gauteng Boxing Promoters Association, a role she thrived in. And in the same year was nominated as and awarded The Promising Promoter of the Year in South Africa by Boxing South Africa.
The Comeback Campaign
The first Unleashed Combat Sports event as part of Shereen’s comeback campaign is at the SABC’s Renaissance Room on the 17th of July. “I had to think long and hard about where to host my first event. The SABC has been such an incredible broadcast partner, and I thought, why not – let’s go BIG, so we are doing it inside the SABC, and it will be broadcast on the free-to-air sports channel nationally. We are very excited.”
It will be a live broadcast of the full event on SABC Sport OpenView Channel 124, from 2pm, and the main bout will also be broadcast live on SABC 3. There are 7 exciting bouts on the bill.
