Rosebank Mall’s 5KM Pink Run, burst onto Bath Avenue in a wave of colour and community spirit, drawing more than 3 000 runners and walkers, raising R50 000 for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).
What began as a simple Saturday morning run quickly transformed into a powerful show of solidarity. Families with toddlers in strollers, fitness fanatics, social runners and first-time participants all laced up in shades of pink each step honouring someone touched by cancer.
“Seeing over 3 000 people come together shows the incredible heart of our community,” said Angelisa Gengan, Marketing Manager at Rosebank Mall.
“Every person who participated made a tangible difference to CANSA’s vital work. The energy and solidarity on display reminded us why this event matters so much.”

Behind the excitement was the dedicated Run Zone Team, ensuring seamless logistics from registration to the final dash across the finish line. Their expertise kept the morning flowing smoothly, allowing participants to focus on the joy, purpose and unity of the day.
Sponsors also played an important role in elevating the experience. Garmin added a touch of excitement with a social media giveaway featuring two Garmin Forerunner 265 Light Pink watches, giving runners a chance to take home top-tier fitness tech. Pick n Pay kept spirits high and hydration levels steady with refreshments along the route.
“The response from our participants, sponsors and the Run Zone Team made this event truly special,” Gengan added. “It takes an entire community working together to create something meaningful and that’s exactly what happened.”
The funds raised will support CANSA’s ongoing mission to provide care, counselling, education and research that brings hope to thousands of South Africans affected by cancer. For many who took part, the Pink Run offered a deeply personal way to turn loss, love and lived experiences into meaningful action. This was more than a run, it was a celebration of strength, remembrance and the power of community.
