Praisy Dlamini – Winemaker

One sector of the food and beverage industry where we continue to see women shine is in the world of winemaking. Within the traditionally white, male-dominated landscape of wine professionals — from sommeliers to winemakers — you’ll find some badass lady vintners who are actively turning this outdated norm on its head. These women are fighting for better access, inclusion, transparency, and diversity in the wine industry.

Disrupting the predominantly white, male winemaking landscape in groundbreaking ways, African women shine light on female entrepreneurs who are not only thriving in the food and beverage industry, but are owning it. We are here for it.

In an effort to highlight these truly badass entrepreneurial women in the industry, we wanted to call out a delicious wine brand by women winemakers to try this year. Bottoms-up to these boss ladies who are showing us that time’s up.

The power of eight dedicated South African women expressed in a bottle: HER!

The HER collection is the first branded wine to come out of Adama Wines, an all-women run company from Wellington, South Africa.

HER wines are made from sustainably farmed grape varieties of the highest quality, sourced from the Cape Winelands. The ladies have an advantage in that they control the complexity and depth in flavour with this collection because, thanks to partnerships, they source high-quality grapes from different vineyard sites of the Cape.

HER wine collection brand is a brand that is representative of women occupying the spaces that were predominantly not infiltrated by women. More importantly since they’re are in the wine industry, for them to start a brand was a platform they saw fit for them to tell their story and share their experiences with the rest of the world. The intention with this brand is the champion the talent that South African women are and celebrate their achievements.

This collection portrays that our diversity when embraced, can birth something that defines history. Now that it’s summer and it’s time for braai’s, garden parties, picnics and beach days. Whether its crisps whites for al fresco dining, lighter reds for barbecues or refreshing rosés for balmy evenings Adama Wines are for any occasion.

Whatever plan you have for this summer Adama Wines have the best wines to help you celebrate this season

Great thing about their wines is that they come in different offerings and are reasonably priced.   For more details follow on Instagram @HER Wine Collection.
